What Is Adversary Simulation Testing?
Evaluate Your Cyber Defences with Microminder’s Adversary Simulations

This will help you fix vulnerabilities faster, close security gaps, improve compliance with regulations, and improve your incident response planning. It prepares your organisations to tackle real threats, such as zero-day exploits, phishing attacks, ransomware, advanced persistent threats (APTs), insider threats, and more.

Our elite red team simulates realistic multi-vector adversarial attacks on your IT infrastructure to check its resilience and complete security posture. We test using the real-world tactics, techniques, and procedures that cybercriminals, hacktivists, APT groups, ransomware groups, etc. use. Apart from digital attacks, we also test for physical security and analyse human behaviours to get to the root cause of an attack.
This helps us understand how effectively your security team can detect, contain, and respond to attacks and restore operations. Red team adversary simulations reveal vulnerabilities and security gaps in your systems. We also provide helpful recommendations to strengthen your cyber resilience.

We bring together offensive (red team) and defensive (blue team) to create a collaborative environment for conducting an adversary simulation exercise. Let our red team plan realistic scenarios based on the latest adversarial attacks and your security needs and carry out the attack, while your blue team detects and responds to it.
This promotes a culture of security among your employees, improves communications, and allows them to share knowledge with each other for effective incident detection and response.

Our security team carries out distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on your IT systems and applications by flooding them with too many requests at a time. This makes them unresponsive and allows the attackers to infiltrate them.
With this simulated exercise, we attempt to determine how your systems handle a large volume of requests simultaneously and the vulnerabilities in them that attackers can exploit. This will help you improve your systems to withstand large-volume requests.

We simulate social engineering attacks on your employees to trick them from revealing sensitive information. For this, we use various social engineering techniques, such as phishing, smishing, vishing, spear-phishing, baiting, scareware, etc.
With these exercises, we evaluate how aware and vigilant your employees are against these attacks. It also tells whether they can spot the signs of these attacks and stay away from engaging with them. Based on the assessment, we help you guide and train your employees, so they don’t fall prey to social engineering attacks.

We involve people from various departments of your organisation to take part in our cybersecurity tabletop exercises. Our security experts build real-world attack scenarios, such as malware, ransomware, DDoS attacks, insider threats, third-party attacks, and more.
This helps you understand attack readiness across your organisation, security posture, compliance status, and employee awareness. It reveals vulnerabilities so you can resolve them faster, improve your compliance and security, and train your employees to face attackers confidently.

After we perform adversary simulations, our security experts create detailed reports based on the findings. They thoroughly document all the systems covered during the exercise, participants, tools used, and other details. They also include the vulnerabilities found, the root cause of the attack, how the risk was contained and mitigated, the impact of the attack on the organisation, and more.
Our security team analyses the report carefully to guide you on how to strengthen your current security controls and incident response planning. We also offer ongoing security advisory services to help you stay secure and compliant with applicable laws.

After you sign up for our adversary simulation testing service, we start gathering intelligence on your organisation like a real attacker would. Our security experts take time to understand your business, analyse your digital footprints, and conduct threat intelligence assessments.
We identify your sensitive data available publicly, partners and vendors you work with, and map out your attack surface. Next, we evaluate weak links in your IT infrastructure, supply chain risks, and attack vectors. We perform security posture assessments to find security vulnerabilities, missing updates and patches, misconfigurations, and other weaknesses.

Our security experts simulate attacks that seem realistic and are highly stealthy. With no understanding of the system or application logic, our red team performs simulated attacks, such as social engineering, DDoS, ransomware, etc. to infiltrate your systems, whether they are in the cloud, on-premises, or hybrid environments.
They attempt to exploit your system weaknesses and employee psyche to move laterally in your IT infrastructure. They also deploy custom malware and create malicious backdoors to simulate persistent threats. This exposes vulnerabilities, so you can resolve them to improve your security posture before attackers get to them.

After launching the attack, we analyse how well your organisation detects and responds to the security incident. We also assess the time it takes for them to restore operations and recover sensitive data. This helps us understand the strength of your incident response planning, security controls, and security operations centre (SOC).
Based on the results, we suggest how to improve your incident response plan to better deal with attacks and secure your systems and data..

Once the threat simulation and its results are out, we create a detailed report to outline the security vulnerabilities we found, the systems targeted, controls used to mitigate threats, and other important details.
We sit with your security team to prioritise and resolve threats and improve your cyber defences. You can also refer to this report in the future if a similar attack strikes your IT infrastructure and use it as a case study to train your employees.

Microminder CS sticks with you to provide continuous security monitoring and recommendations. We conduct periodic cybersecurity simulation testing to adjust your security posture according to the latest threats.
In addition, we offer training sessions and workshops for your employees to upskill them on cybersecurity. You can also trust us for threat intelligence updates to adapt your security controls to modern attack TTPs.

FAQs

Please identify the answer you are seeking.

An adversarial is a malicious actor or cybercriminal who attempts to infiltrate an organisation’s IT systems and network. They launch cyber attacks, such as phishing, malware, DDoS, etc. to steal data, demand ransom, damage reputation, and other harm.

“To simulate” means replicating certain conditions or activities. In cybersecurity testing, the activities of cyber attackers are replicated to create realistic exercises to test an organisation’s attack readiness.

A simulation tool is a program where you can feed certain conditions, execute an operation virtually, and observe it without performing it in reality.
